Repeat: Paintings

Senior Thesis Exhibition, Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery, Wesleyan University, Middletown CT, 2014.

I am interested in the use of pattern designs to enhance, transform, and distort surfaces and interior spaces. My paintings explore the boundaries between decorative and fine art, and focus specifically on the depiction and domestication of nature throughout the history of pattern design. My process is a purely subjective response to the original source material, and my work is realized with intense detail and repetitive gestures. By featuring patterns on a flat picture plane, I hope to draw attention to the intricacies of the patterns themselves as well as their ability to be repeated infinitely.
